Bamboo 3Dknit™ Bouncer wins the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021

Suddenly you get a mail titled “Your result in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021”. Excitement and anxiety kick in. Did we win? I open the mail and it reads: “You have been awarded in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. We would like to congratulate you sincerely on this great success! You can find….” The rest is a bit of a blur. For a few seconds, euphoria sets in. Then doubt sneaks in. What kind of Dot is it? A normal Dot? Or “only” an Honorable Mention? So, I quickly log in to check the details on the Red Dot portal. Yes! It’s a “Full” Dot! Both Bombol’s and Studio Gooris’ teams are super happy!!

Unexpected!

To be honest, the fact of winning Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 came as a real surprise. Not that we ever doubted the qualities of the Bamboo 3Dknit™ Bouncer. After all it has two invention patents under its belt! The first Bamboo Bouncer was launched in 2010 and it was packed with functionality, all hidden inside the minimal design. It is one of the pieces we are most proud of because that is what good design is all about! But the absence of all the usual whistles and bells also make it the most underrated baby bouncer, and it almost caused it to die a “shelf death”.

It remained largely unchanged until 2020, when it received major upgrades such as perfect body support thanks to the 3Dknitted dynamic backrest, an integrated solution for newborns (no more optional NewBorn Kit), a frame that can easily be taken apart without compromising its legendarily tough construction to hold toddlers up to 5 years, a packaging reduced by over 60% and a 99.9% antibacterial yarn for the 3Dknitted backrest. But the essence of the design never changed.
